Handbook of European HPC projects

QEC4QEA

Quantum Excellence Centre for Quantum-Enhanced Applications

QEC4QEA will establish a one-stop shop for quantum solutions and expertise, fostering close collaboration between developers, quantum computing scientists, and end users. The centre will offer a comprehensive service portfolio, ranging from a hardware-independent application library, benchmarking suites, APIs, and compilers to curated access to high-performance computing (HPC) and quantum infrastructures across Europe.

The project follows an agile co-development model that promotes cross-disciplinary and cross-sector collaboration. A comprehensive training programme and dedicated help desk will support researchers and developers at all levels, empowering them to design, test, and deploy quantum-enhanced solutions to real-world challenges.

By targeting applications in optimisation, cryptography, machine learning, materials discovery, finance, and complex data analysis, QEC4QEA aims to demonstrate the tangible benefits of quantum computing technologies. Through strong engagement with industries such as finance, pharmaceuticals, and supply chain management, the project translates scientific breakthroughs into impactful, commercially viable innovations. QEC4QEA strengthens collective expertise in high-performance and quantum computing and contributes to a sustainable European quantum ecosystem.

The project brings together 19 leading industrial and academic partners from across Europe to accelerate the development and deployment of quantum-enhanced applications in diverse domains.
